second car hire sorted

Seemed like there's a conspiracy to stop too many cars travel down from Jasper to Vancouver (one way). After much surfing on the net and a couple of calls we've finally settled a price with carhire3000 who offered a small discount off the internet price. The downside of it is we have to pay 300 CAD when we pick it up... in addition to the hire fee.
There was one broker who checked and informed me that they don't allow drives from Jasper to Vancouver.

Train from Montreal to Ottawa

Been on line this morning and managed to book our train ride out Montreal on 7th September at 13.05 and arriving in Ottawa at 15.05 with via Canada with seats booked as well all for approx £44 for the 2 of us.

Seems there's a whole load of options to be considered for hiring cars in Canada. But just a case of getting to know the dates for when we will need a car and when we can do without one.
Seems like we'll be catching a train from Montreal to Ottawa, so will need a car for the Ottawa to Toronto part of the trip in the first week, then pick up another car in Jasper once we arrive there, then drive down to Vancouver and maybe to Seattle.

another hotel booked

Some further research on car hire and resulted in nothing yet booked. However another hotel booked for our arrival in Jasper on Tues 21st Sept. It a Best Western hotel and appears to be just what we'll need after travelling from Toronto by Train.

The planning stage

Its starting to become a reality with just over 6 weeks to go until our flight out to Canada.
The plans are starting to come together with flights, train journey and some hotels booked. Caroline's relatives, out in Canada, are being extremely helpful in offering us accommodation whenever possible.
We fly into Montreal on Sunday 5th September at around 17.00. from Gatwick airport
We fly back from Vancouver on 3rd October.
